My phone contacts disappeared. It’s a long story and it’s a mixture of my fault and the phone contacts backup system doing something weird. Anyway, in order to get people to resend me their name via SMS so I could add them to my phone contacts again I asked a question. “Send me your name and you favourite two-letter word”.

Some didn’t take me seriously, “Oh I thought that was a joke?” and another SMS’d with only their number in the message which was helpful.

My friends must be a narcissistic bunch. The most common favourite two-letter word messaged to me was ME. Maybe that reflects on me. Much like Narcissus himself. It only got three responses, one ahead of EH, YO and NO. Each with two. If you count my favourite word, then PI got two votes as well. Thrilling huh?

I suppose if anything the range of words was a surprise. XX was a weird one. One EH came from a Canadian while another came with a question mark after it. A few messaged their initials (which isn’t really a word), PO is common in the pharmaceutical industry apparently and QI turned up from a scrabble enthusiast no doubt.
